Heart it races

I am not usually a fan of Valentine's day, but this year I am feeling surprisingly optimistic.

In honor of the day of love (or hallmark) I decided to make a little present for all the girls in Measure for Measure, and for the birthday girls. I already attempted the bow necklace, but am in need of some stronger wire so that will have to wait. Dejected after that failure, I was screwing around with some jump rings when I accidentally made a heart, et voila!

I apologize for the terrible photo booth pictures, I am still sans camera, though hopefully this will be remedied soon.

Here's an attempted close up of the heart:

Magic Man

I have some music to share today. My friend at school, Sam Lee and his friend from home, Alex Caplow. Their music is so beautiful, I've been listening all day as I study for a dreaded test. (And as I've procrastinated...) I would highly recommend you take a listen.

You can download the whole album by clicking this link: http://www.arcadesoundltd.com/Real%20Life%20Color.zip or if you'd like to read a little about the boys you can go here: magicman.bandcamp.com

Here are two of my favorites, Nest and Daughter.

Triggerhappy

Via http://www.etsy.com/shop/triggerhappy

Came across this last night on poppytalk handmade (a great resource for handmade gifts, and a very cute blog as well).

Triggerhappy is an etsy store with such gorgeous jewelry, I'm hooked! I don't usually wear jewelry but if I do it's something small and meaningful. I like the "it happened here" necklace because it is just that, small and meaningful. You can have the latitude and longitude of a special place engraved on a piece of metal. When you receive your necklace you also get the password to an interactive map where you can share the story behind your coordinates. This is such a beautiful idea, especially with Valentine's day coming up.

DIY: Birthday Gift Edition

It is my brother's girlfriends birthday on Saturday. It is one of my best friends (and suitemates) birthday on Saturday. I have strike for Measure for Measure on Saturday. It is going to be a busy Saturday.

The problem with these impending birthdays is that these two girls are too stylish for their own good. Therefore, it is difficult to buy gifts for them. As you may have guessed from the title of this post I have decided to make them something (O. and M. if you're reading, go away!)

My intended gift is inspired by this Benedicte necklace, available at Anthropologie for $178.

I'll be posting an update with my finished product later, though the pictures will most likely be taken with my computer camera so forgive me!

School Bag Search

My new laptop has inspired a series of esty and ebay searches for "school bag." Some of my favorites:

This book bag is actually shaped like a book. Unfortunately it's too small for my computer, but damn its cute.

Raindrop Wall

Dismissed by my now hated boyfriend as "a little precious" I am nonetheless attempting to transform my living space, inspired by this picture

Saved in an inspiration folder, if this is your image please contact me and I will credit you

I am working with a wonderful etsy seller, Lauren from Bradengracewallart, to make my dream come true. My ultimate goal is a wall covered in raindrops, preferably made out of chalkboard paint. Here are some preliminary shapes that Lauren sent me.

Apple Rant

My absence from the interwebs these past few days has been a forced one. I recently broke my computer beyond repair and have just returned from buying a macbook pro. It has not been set up yet, so I'm writing this from R's computer.

We're in final tech week for Measure for Measure so most of my time has been spent in the theatre. If my actors let me I'll be posting pictures of them in their very cool 1930's costumes.

Measure has been a challenge to costume. The director has decided to set it in 1930's Vienna. There are military men, priests and nuns, and prostitutes. It has definitely required historical research. Here are a few of the pictures we have used as inspiration.

Gary Cooper. Sigh.
