Home Improvement: Part 1

Our apartment is so close to being finished, we just need a few more things for the walls and I think we will be officially done. The biggest thing we had to change about the apartment was the open loft area. My dad suggested building a wall of insulating material and covering it with fabric, and after two days of cutting, gluing and stapling it was done. It's the first thing people comment on when they walk into the apartment!

The project was made slightly more complicated by the odd measurements of the space we were filling, so we had to glue an extra strip to the top of each board

Back to School Boots

Due to my well documented online shopping addiction friends often ask me if I can help them find a specific item of clothing or accessory. So I decided to start a new series called Ask and ye shall receive. Feel free to send me an email (abiellemiel@gmail.com) with your special request and I'll see what I can do.

For our first ever Ask and ye shall receive post my friend Zoe has agreed to act as guinea pig. She is looking for flat black boots with a round toe, suede or leather and preferably mid calf. Her only other requirement is that they are under $100.

In which Jcrew creates an obsession

So we've all seen this Jcrew ad right?

This image is everything I want for fall. Furry vests, fitted blazers, pretty jewels, undone hair and bold lips. After a quick google search I know the actual color used in this ad is Nars Funny Face. But I couldn't find Nars products anywhere near me and I require immediate gratification. So it's off to Target where I find the perfect (and much cheaper) alternative, Revlon's Super Lustrous Lipstick in Fuchsia Fusion.

Wearing: max and co. shoes, yaya aflalo skirt, h&m dress, aritzia sweater

My roommate Augusta took the picture. I couldn't stop laughing. Oh well. We also had to photophop, but I think it is the most accurate picture of the color.

Finally caved...

And bought clogs. It felt very right in the moment, but now I'm debating how to wear them. Every year my mom used to take us to Hannah Andersson to buy a new pair of clogs for school. (Also, striped pajamas.) I was particularly partial to red and purple. The other day I stopped by Madewell and picked up the Westway clog in english saddle.

I'm thinking I'll wear them with striped socks, jeans, and my new anchor sweater from Aritzia, but have yet to actually venture out in this outfit. Maybe for date night tonight?

Brimfield Market!

Drove to Brimfield, MA yesterday. Started the day off slow but found some real treasures in the end. I promise to post photos of all my loot soon. For now, just silly ones! (All photos courtesy of Lily)

Currently Loving: Backpacks

Shopping period has started with a vengeance and I'm already exhausted! There are some amazing classes being offered this semester, the trick is to get into them.

I've been lugging my computer around in a purse, definitely not ideal. And while I constantly talk about buying a Filson bag I still haven't pulled the trigger. I'm starting to seriously consider a backpack, something I swore I would never do after middle school. But I've been seeing so many cute options around campus and on the interwebs. Here's my round-up of backpacks, all under $100.

The Highlander ($99)

Comes in lots of different colors, can be worn lots of different ways. Etsy comes through again.

GWEND French Beige and Blue Backpack ($44)

I like this vintage option, but I'm not sure the beige will go with my winter coat (it's important to think about these things!) so someone else buy this please.

Vintage large navy canvas Backpack ($54)

I'm not sure if these straps are up to the weight of my laptop and a million books, but the label on this says "of course by schneiders, walker" and that is very hard to resist.

Vintage Chanel Backpack ($399)

Way outside my budget. But adorable.
